સ્વીડનનાં પ્રધાનમંત્રી મેગદાલેના એક તો દેશનાં પહેલા મહિલા પ્રધાનમંત્રી છે. સ્વીડનમાં તેમને માઇલસ્ટોન માનવામાં આવે છે. લોકો મેગદાલેનાનાં કામથી ઘણાં પ્રભાવિત છે, એટલે જ એક અઠવાડિયામાં તેઓ બે બે વાર પી.એમ બન્યાં હતાં.
સ્વીડનની સંસદમાં જ્યારે બજેટનો પ્રસ્તાવ ન સ્વીકારાયો ત્યારે તેમણે પી.એમ પદ પરથી રાજીનામું આપી દીધું હતું. પણ આ રાજીનામાના ત્રીજા દિવસે જ પાછા તેમને આ પદ માટે ચૂંટી લેવામાં આવ્યા હતાં.
પી.એમ બન્યા બાદ તેમણે ઓછા મતવાળી પાર્ટીની સરકારની રચના કરી હતી. એ તેમના માટે સૌથી ચેલેન્જિંગ કામ હતું. પણ દરેક ચેલેન્જને સ્વીકારવી અને તેમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ કામ કરી બતાવવું એવા વિચાર સાથે તેમણે પોતાનું કામ શરૂ કર્યુ હતું.
